Kunshan currently has four religious communities: Buddhism, Taoism, Catholicism and Christianity, with a total of 36 religious sites.
1. Buddhism
Kunshan has 10 religious sites for Buddhists as well as 40 practitioners (including 39 bhikkus and 1 bhikkuni). Buddism has the largest following, which is estimated between 200,000 and 300,000 people.
2. Taoism
There are 10 religious sites of Taoism as well as 6 registered Taoists. An estimated number of 100,000 locals believe in Taoism.
3. Catholicism
There are 6 religious sites dedicated to Catholicism as well as 7 Catholics, including 4 priests and 3 nuns. The number of people believing in Catholicism is estimated around 7,000.
4. Christianity
Kunshan has 10 sites exclusively used for Christian purposes, as well as 8 registered ministers and 1 presbyterian. There are about 18,000 locals believing in Christianity. Moreover, about 6,000 locals, mainly Hui and Uygur people, believe in Islamism.
