        Huaqiao Economic Development Zone

Located where Jiangsu borders Shanghai and covering 52.3 sq km, the Huaqiao International Service Business Park is an eastern gateway of Jiangsu, the only provincial development zone dedicated to modern services in the province, and a national pilot zone for the modern services industry. It was awarded Most Valuable Investment Destination for Service Business in China and one of the Top 10 Service Outsourcing Parks in China. Since its inception in 2006, the park has been positioned to integrate with Shanghai. It has been advancing the development of the modern services industry by leveraging its proximity with Shanghai, the preferential policies of Jiangsu and the cost advantage of Kunshan. To date, it has attracted more than 600 modern services projects at a combined investment of over RMB 65 billion. Quite a few reputable Chinese and foreign companies have chosen to base their operations here, including NSK (Japan), Capgemini (France), IBM (US), Dell (US) and Goodbaby (China).

In 2015, the park generated RMB 21.37 billion in GDP, a year-on-year increase of 10.5%; and RMB 17.6 billion in value added to the services industry, a year-on-year increase of 15.8%. The services industry made up 82.4% of its GDP and contributed 117.5% to its GDP growth. Compared with 2006, the park's GDP, fiscal income and the value added of the services industry respectively increased by 6-, 10- and 17-fold. The services sector as a percentage of its GDP increased from 30.5% in 2006 to 82.4% in 2015.

On the new starting point, the park will seize opportunities from China's "New Normal" and implement the central government's development concepts of "innovative, coordinated, green, open and sharing". Focusing on the Six-Year Action Plan for Economic Transition and Innovation-driven Development, the park will vigorously boost local economic growth by leveraging the power of corporate headquarters, the Internet, and conventions and exhibitions, so as to become a modern, exquisite, comfortable, dynamic and fashionable business city. By the end of the 13th Five-year Plan period, it will strive to become a pioneer in economic transition and innovative-driven development as well as a spearhead in cross-strait economic cooperation and modern service business.
